Sharsheret

Sharsheret (Hebrew for “chain”) is a chain of support for women and families impacted by breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or those living with increased risk for these cancers. Though started as  a Jewish organization, Sharsheret provides support to everyone regardless of background, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or religion.

Sharsheret has social workers on call to provide psychosocial support, genetic counselors to discuss genetic concerns, and financial grants available. In Kansas City, financial grants are available for cold capping and custom-made human hair wigs. Grants can also be made for micropigmentation (areola and eyebrow tattooing), though currently the nearest micropigmentation services available are in Omaha and St. Louis. However, if you are interested, please send in an inquiry here and we will do our best to connect you with a Kansas City-area tattoo artist.

Sharsheret also has beautiful gifts and resources that they will send you in the mail like toys and games for your children, makeup and care kits for when you’re going through chemotherapy or radiation, mastectomy kits, resources for your partner or adult children, and more. Learn more here
