A Breast Cancer Community Bulletin Board

A bulletin board is an online space where users share public messages and general information.

Post your public notices here. Use this space to swap gently used cancer supplies, share upcoming events, seek recommendations, etc. You may engage in buying and selling but only of personal property for the purpose of support, and you must handle payment and transfer on your own. Posts expire after 90 days but may be renewed.  To comment on a post, click on its title.

Examples: “I have a drain management robe if anyone is having a mastectomy and needs one.” “I am looking for a recommendation for a house cleaner in the Northland this summer while I am in treatment.”

Black and Hispanic women needed for a study at UMKC

In Search Of

Dr. Fu at UMKC is looking for Black and Hispanic women who have had persistent or occasional pain, aching, soreness, or tenderness in the body side where they received breast cancer treatment in the past three months. You do not need to have lymphedema (i.e., abnormal lymph fluid build-up) to be in the study.

The purpose of the study is to evaluate a self-care program to manage the discomfort and swelling. The study does not involve drugs. The study will take 13 weeks and will require three visits with UMKC, which you can either do in person or virtually.

    Black Women needed for American Cancer Society Study

    In Search Of

    The American Cancer Society is looking to enroll 100,000 Black women across the United States in the VOICES of Black Women study examining the cancer burden for Black women. They are also looking for Ambassadors who are passionate about health equity and are trusted members of their communities to help spread the word about this study.

    To participate in the study, you must meet these criteria:

    •be assigned female at birth or identify as a woman
    •identify as Black
    •have no history of cancer (except for basal or squamous skin cancer)
    •be between 25-55 years of age
    •live in one of the 50 United States or Washington D.C.

    To be an Ambassador, you agree to:

    •ask your contacts to enroll in the study
    •represent the VOICES Study at community events
    •promote the VOICES Study on social media
    •work with the American Cancer Society on outreach in your state
    •enroll in the study if you are eligible
