At Food for the Cure, we deeply understand the struggle of accessing nutritious organic food while facing the challenges of cancer. Inspired by Andrew’s late mother, Brenda Fitzgerald, our 501(C)3 organization aims to lighten this burden. We dream of providing complimentary, organically grown vegetables to all cancer patients. Our journey starts with organic seeds and natural fertilizers in our greenhouses, with dedicated volunteers nurturing the plants in our gardens.
Ensuring food safety is crucial, especially when undergoing chemotherapy and facing immune system challenges. We go beyond simply cleaning our vegetables. By utilizing an ozone bubbling machine, we infuse O3 into the water we use for washing our produce, complemented by our forced air bubbler system. This process creates a critical step to eliminate any bacteria that might be lurking on our freshly harvested vegetables. Interestingly, ozone-treated water also enhances the flavor of greens, making them taste even more delightful!
