Dr. DeSouza was able to perform a bilateral oncoplasty for me at the same time I had my lumpectomy (All covered by insurance). I always wanted a breast reduction so this was a great opportunity to get it done.  Dr. DeSouza was able to reconstruct my breast after the lumpectomy to make it look more natural and do a breast reduction (bilateral) and a breast lift at the same time.  I guess you can call that a little silver lining on this breast cancer journey.  Dr. DeSouza partners with Dr. Balanoff at KU med so you can potentially get both lumpectomy and plastic surgery at the same time.
