Breast lymphedema before/during radiation

Has anyone dealt with breast lymphedema that is NOT in your arm? Did you have it before or during radiation treatments? I have a small area of redness that started before radiation and seems to be growing as treatment progresses. My breast is heavy and slightly swollen. Hard to tell if this is just the effects of radiation or something more. This poor boob is really taking a beating! I’m calling the lymphedema RN today but curious if anyone else experienced this and has any insight. Thank you!

Yes, I’ll have the radiation team evaluate next week.

Yep, breast lymphedema. I’ll finish radiation and be evaluated by PT after. UGH. I’m so frustrated.

Nuts, I’m sorry to hear that. I can imagine how frustrating this is. I haven’t developed lymphedema, but I had a few complications myself after surgery and radiation and I know what it feels like when you can’t catch a freaking break. Keep your chin up!!! I am glad they’re on it. How much more treatment do you have left?

I had 28 radiation treatments at Menorah, and by the end, my skin was dark red, painful and peeling. The technicians told me about a product that could help heal radiation burns—Aquaphor Body Spray. It was a game changer. Before, I was using Radiation Relief cream, which I bought on Amazon, but the spray was much easier and quicker to apply. It feels like spray-on sunscreen. You can buy it on Amazon or at CVS. After about a week of using it, my skin is still red but is healing quickly.
