Hello breasty baddies! Jen in OP here. I was originally diagnosed with IDC stage 2, but three out of four lymph nodes were positive after DMX with reconstruction 5/14 so I guess that makes it stage 3? I met with Dr. Corum at KU Olathe campus Friday to go over the plan. My Mammaprint put me in the high risk for recurrence stage so he is recommending four rounds of Dose Dense AC followed by twelve weeks of Taxol, followed by letrozole for 5-7 years and a CDK med for 2 or 3 years. Hi Jen! I was on Taxol during my first course of treatment, and I also had to use cold treatments for the second chemo round after radiation. I definitely think the cold treatment helps to prevent neuropathy. I put a flexible ice pack (like the ones you can put on your head for migraines) into a small pillow with a pocket (which can be found on Amazon). I then put my fingers in one pillow with the ice pack and my toes in the other pillow. Note that you can wear thin socks when you ice to make yourself more comfortable. Also, it's important to i...

Hello! I had taxol as well and used ice mittens and ice socks. In theory, it made sense to me for slowing the circulation so that chemo to those area. I figured it would not hurt. You are welcome to borrow mine since it is so short term. 816-509-3972. I recommend doing socks under the ice socks and the mittens I either wore thin gloves or just took them on and off...they get so cold. I am fine in all areas, but my right foot has neuropathy. @kpiitzer02 I may take you up on that, thank you! I do four rounds of ddac for eight weeks first, so won’t be starting taxol until the end of August-ish. I will get with you closer to that time!

I had 28 radiation treatments at Menorah, and by the end, my skin was dark red, painful and peeling. The technicians told me about a product that could help heal radiation burns—Aquaphor Body Spray. It was a game changer. Before, I was using Radiation Relief cream, which I bought on Amazon, but the spray was much easier and quicker to apply. It feels like spray-on sunscreen. You can buy it on Amazon or at CVS. After about a week of using it, my skin is still red but is healing quickly.

Here's the deal - you've gone through a lot and yet you still have to function. I had a double mastectomy, not kemo/radiation, just Tamoxifen and I'm so tired at 2pm I could crash every day! But oh yeah, there's work and kids, and life. I went to my doctor recently and explained how hard the fatigue is on me! She suggested having my bloodwork done and assumed that I may have Vitamin D deficiency among other things. She was totally right! Take 5,000mg of Vitamin D every day- does a world of difference!

I had to do four rounds of TC chemo. I was lucky to be able to cold cap. Advent Health offered cold capping by DigniCap. By cold capping I was able to save half my hair. I would highly recommend cold capping if possible. DigniCap had great customer service and always answered all my questions.
