Uplifting messages for KSHB 41 interview of Dr. O'dea
Hi everyone, I'm Alyssa. I'm a breast cancer survivor and a journalist. This is a late ask but the idea hit me last night. I am interviewing Dr. Anne O'dea for a special series for breast cancer awareness month tomorrow, Sept. 9th. I've seen several people in this group speak highly of her. I would like to read her some praise/uplifting messages during our interview tomorrow. If you've had a good experience with her and you're comfortable sharing (no name identification needed), I would like to read her some of your comments during our interview. Sometimes our doctors focus on our treatment and care and forget they're making a difference and saving so many lives. I met Dr. O’Dea in February 2022 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. From the first meeting with Dr. O’Dea, I felt confident I was with the right oncologist. Dr. O’Dea was extremely knowledgeable and walked me through the entire cancer journey with confidence and compassion. She always answered my questions, whether in person or on the portal in a timely manner. When my 1st chemotherapy treatment made me ill, she was able to adjust my dosing and add in IV fluids to help me feel better post treatment so that I was able to attend my daughter’s college graduation out of town, which was very important to me. Dr. O’Dea is also so knowledgeable about all the new treatments and drugs available to give me the best outcome possible moving forward. She is always good about educating me on the options available, recommending how to proceed with things, or giving me the choice to do something. Dr. O’Dea told me when we first met that she would be my oncologist for life and she has followed my progress post-treatment with the same compassion and care. I am now 4+ years post diagnosis and cancer free and I am so lucky to have Dr. O’Dea on my team!!! Thank you Dr. O’Dea — you have made a huge difference in my life!
