HER2 Triple Positive Breast Cancer

My husband I just sat our 9-year-old down and told her. We explained what would happen and what to
expect during my treatment. We tried to mentally prepare for my change in appearance as well. I
decided the one thing I could control was to get ahead of my hair falling out, so when it started to fall
out I had my husband and daughter help me shave my head.

My husband had to take over cleaning, cooking, soccer practice, and friends had to drive my daughter to
school.
My support system has always been wonderful. There was a meal train set up for after my surgery and I
had someone home with me every day for the first 2 weeks.

I had to learn patience within myself. It was hard for me to be so hands off with my family. I learned that
my family may not have been in physical pain like I was, but they were in pain nonetheless.

I feel that I have become a bigger role daughter to my daughter battling this cancer. She saw me hurting,
scared, and fighting. I was still on the sideline cheering for her and her team no matter the amount of
pain I was in. I had to be there for her and show her how to push through.

Everyone handles their situation differently. Lean on your support system. Show yourself some grace.
Know that this is just part of your story and never stop fighting.
