My wait from mammogram to cancer diagnosis was nine days, which I assume is pretty typical. I found that there was an arc to my distress: the first few days of waiting were hard, then I settled into it, and then the last few days were hard. I did share with a handful of people the fact that I was waiting on biopsy results, and for the most part that helped me, although not everything that people say is helpful. What I liked the best was when someone said "I'm here for you whatever happens" so I try to take that approach with others now.
